Pancreatic pseudocyst is a localised fluid collection resulting from inflammation of the pancreas located deep to the upper abdomen. These cysts may continue to enlarge or become infected. They can also cause significant discomfort resulting in loss of weigh and appetite. Cyst-gastrostomy is a procedure which creates a communication between the cyst and the stomach to allow the pseudocyst to empty its content into the stomach. The puncture is usually done under endoscopic ultrasound guidance follow by deploying a stent into the cyst and draining into the stomach. Depending on the actual content within the cyst, these stents may be left in place for a few months before removal.
